Mesabi East School Closure Plan (Updated March 19)

Mesabi East School District has updated the School Closure Plan. These updates include:

  • Access to Mesabi East Building: Mesabi East Public School is closed to the public. If you need assistance, please call 218-229-3321 ext. 302 and leave a message.
  • Distance Learning: Teachers are preparing for providing teaching and learning though Distance Learning starting on March 30. Teachers have communicated with students and parents to test some of the software that will be used to support the Distance Learning. Many teachers have provided resource materials for students to enjoy during this planning time and it will not be collected for grading purposes.
  • Free and Reduced Lunch: Students receiving free and reduced lunches will have the opportunity to have breakfast and lunch delivered to their homes. Applications can be found on the Mesabi East website. For more information please call 218-229-3321 ext. 305 or 306 to leave a message.
  • Essential Workers – School-Aged Daycare: Mesabi East is providing School-Aged Daycare for Essential Workers such as Healthcare workers, Law Enforcement, Fire-fighters, etc. For more information, please call 218-229-3321 ext. 400 and leave a message.
  • WIFI Options: Mesabi East will be providing WIFI for students without access at home. One option will be using traveling Hot Spots. These Hot Spot devices will be located in school vans and will be used for short stops for student downloads and uploads of information.
  • Mental Health: Mesabi East has a collaborative of professionals who identify, assess, and respond to students who are in crisis. Mesabi East students and families can receive supports and resources from accessing this team.
