Youth Activities Coordinator

The communities of Aurora, Biwabik, Hoyt Lakes and the Town of White have partnered with the Mesabi East Community Education program to create a vibrant and innovative youth activities program. This new partnership will continue to provide similar youth activities enjoyed in previous years while using the school facility as a one stop area for registration and facility usage.
The new partnership has created a need for a new coordinator to oversee the program. The new position will have the title of Youth Activities Coordinator. The Youth Activities Coordinator will work closely with the Community Education Department and the Mesabi East Activities Director.
The Youth Activities Coordinator provides vision, leadership and oversight to a wide array of Youth program options. As a leader, this position relies upon a continuous improvement philosophy to provide and enhance activities for the youth in the area.
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
3- 5 years of professional experience in youth programs
Excellent technology skills
Skilled in program development, staff management and budget management
Skilled in hiring, training and supervising staff
Knowledge of and expertise in federal laws, state laws and professional trends within program
Excellent organization and time management skills
Effectively communicate and collaborate with employees, community members and outside providers
Recruit and attract youth to programs
Motivate others and resolve interpersonal conflict
React calmly and decisively in emergency situations
Work with conflict and work in stressful situations
Research and gather information from a variety of sources
Follow laws and district policies
Work independently and delegate work appropriately
Use strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and leadership skills
Use excellent writing and verbal skills to justify recommendations, create reports, and convey
$40,000 to $45,000

Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students during school hours throughout the school year. Minnesota Reading Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow.
Perks as A Tutor
• Receive a stipend every two weeks
• Earn up to $4,200 for college tuition or student loans. Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.
