Superintendent Welcome

Welcome,
I am honored to be serving as the superintendent of Mesabi East School District. I
graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social
Studies Education. I then went on to earn my Master of Science and Doctor of
Education in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University of
Moorhead. This is my 15th year in education and 10th year in administration. My
wife Ashleigh and I live in Biwabik township and have three children. Beau
attends Mesabi East school district and twins Benny & Bode attend Mesabi East
ECFE. This fall the district completed it’s strategic plan. Two of the core parts of
the plan are the mission and vision statements. These statements help guide us in
our overall operations of the district.

Mission Statement:
To inspire critical-thinking, community-minded, high achieving individuals.

Vision Statement:
A Giant Leader in Education.

I believe in a collaborative community approach to education. Moving forward I
believe that if we focus on creating opportunities for students to critically think in
all situations it will help them grow as learners. Connecting to the community is
important for young individuals to see real world applications of their learning and
how their decisions impact the community as a whole. I believe in encouraging
students to achieve at the highest levels and giving them an opportunity to do so.
If we focus on inspiring students to critically think, be community minded, and
achieve to the highest levels I believe we can continue to be A Giant Leader in
Education.
